Deep Cleaning Makeup Brushes and Other Unexpected Uses For Koala Eco Cleaners

If you’re enjoying the refreshing aroma of eucalyptus in the bathroom and lemon myrtle wafting through the kitchen, you’ll be pleased to know Koala Eco’s natural cleaners extend far beyond their designated spaces. Eschewing conventional cleaning agents like artificial fragrances, ammonia, and harsh solvents in favour of pure botanical essential oils and biodegradable, plant-based surfactants, many of Koala Eco’s hero products are multipurpose. Rather than load up on individual cleaning supplies for every object and appliance in the house, a curated selection of Koala Eco cleaners can go a long way, keeping your home beautifully scented, safe, and clean while being easier on both your wallet and the environment.

Without further ado, here are four unexpected uses for your favourite Koala Eco products.

1. To deep clean makeup brushes, try our Natural Dish Soap

Regularly washing your makeup brushes is one of those things we all know we should do, however most of us don’t do nearly enough. However, to prevent the formation of acne-causing bacteria and other hygiene-related issues, it’s essential to deep clean your makeup brushes at least once a week. For makeup brushes caked with foundation, primer, and pigmented powders, a little dish soap can work wonders.

While you should steer clear of cleaners that contain harsh solvents or a high alcohol content as these can damage brush bristles and loosen the glue holding the brush together, our Natural Dish Soap harnesses the power of lemon myrtle and mandarin essential oils to ensure a thorough clean without affecting the lifespan of your makeup brushes.

To clean, simply squirt a little Koala Eco Natural Dish Soap into a shallow dish. Wet the brush bristles with lukewarm (not hot) water, tap it into the Natural DIsh Soap, and then work the brush in circular motions against the palm of your hand until it forms a lather (approx. 10-15 seconds). Rinse under lukewarm water until the water runs clean. Then, shake out excess water, gently pat the brush bristles with a clean towel, and lay them flat to air dry.

2. To rid wooden furniture of dust, try our Natural Floor Cleaner

Simultaneously contemporary and stately, wooden furniture forms the cornerstone of decor in many a living room. However, it’s often pretty obvious when a piece of wooden furniture requires a little TLC; a coffee table is marred with glass and cup ring marks from afternoons well spent, or a handsome bookcase begins to accumulate dust.

Cleaning wooden furniture can often be finicky, with the wrong cleaner damaging the finish of the wood. Fortunately, part of the formulation process for our Natural Floor Cleaner involved product testing on a variety of surfaces, including wood, marble, concrete, and porous stone. Utilising peppermint and mandarin essential oils, our Natural Floor Cleaner is effective without being harsh or abrasive, making it ideal for use on wooden furniture.

To eliminate stains, dust, and dirt from your drawers, shelves, and tables, simply use our Natural Floor Cleaner in the same ratio as on floors; a couple of capfuls in a bucket of warm water is all it takes to ensure an effective clean. Plus, our unique formula prevents dust and lint from resettling, making it easier to keep your furniture spotless for longer.

3. For Books and Shelves, try our Natural Multi-Purpose Cleaner

Wipe the spines of leather-bound books with a clean, soft cloth. Our  Multipurpose Cleaner with Australian Lemon Myrtle and Mandarin Essential Oil does a fantastic job on cutting through dust, and even works on wood when you use a damp cloth.

4. For metal doors, window screens, and window treatments try our Natural Dish Soap

Metal doors and window screens respond well to warm water and our Natural Dish Soap. Scrub each screen with a brush, then rinse thoroughly.

Many draperies and curtains are machine washable, so check labels. Vacuum or dry-clean fabric shades. Wipe wooden blinds with a damp cloth: warm water mixed with KOALA ECO Natural Dish Soap is safe for metal and vinyl blinds.
