Victoria Lee: Embracing Nature and Sustainability

Victoria Lee, born in Narrandera and currently residing in Sydney, is a model and advocate for conservation and sustainability. Previously based in New York City, Victoria returned to Australia, driven by her desire to be closer to nature. She is a prominent ambassador for WWF Australia, David Jones, and Parley for The Oceans. Victoria's deep connection to nature, fostered by her upbringing in the Australian countryside, plays a pivotal role in her life and work.

We are delighted to interview Victoria Lee for Koala Eco's "Hour in Nature" series. Her passion for environmental conservation and sustainability aligns perfectly with our ethos of celebrating, connecting with, and protecting the natural world.

What’s your favorite thing to do in nature?

I like to sit and do nothing or go for a walk. I pay attention to the sounds, listen to the birds, feel the breeze on my skin, look at the water or at gardens and trees. I just focus on what’s around me and be present.

Describe your connection to nature what positives does it bring to your life?

My connection to nature always brings me a sense of home - a very grounded and calm feeling. It always reminds me we are part of something so much bigger.

What are your fondest memories of spending time in nature?

Growing up in the country, some of my earliest and fondest memories are going for walks in nature with my Pop and my cousins. We’d walk along the Common in Narrandera or go to the park or if we were on holidays in Bateman’s Bay, we’d be by the beach. We were taught to appreciate, respect and care for our environment. There’s always a connection to family and nature for me.

What is your favourite natural scent, and why?

My favourite natural scent is a Wattle or a Eucalyptus scent. Or the smell of rain. They all remind me of Narrandera, of home.
